It was a lovely day in June and we were traveling down a county road. Weeping Willow and Birch trees grew almost together over the road making a canopy of shade. Along the left side was a old fence covered with wild blackberry bushes.
As we traveled down the road I would see a bird now and then flit in and out of the bushes. Suddenly, a stunning Blue Bird flew right in front of me. In it's beak was a big, fat, ripe blackberry! So, came about the poem and the drawings for Blackberry Fields.
